If you have never before experienced a reading with a spirit medium, you likely have some questions about how we communicate with the spirit realm and understandably perhaps a bit of skepticism, as well. This is understandable. However, it is important to know what to expect and what not to expect from a mediumship reading, so you can have the best possible experience.
Mediums work in a similar fashion to a language interpreter. That is to say, we listen to the “language” of people and pets in the spirit realm and attempt to “translate” this into a language, which you can hopefully understand. Before our time together, please prepare a list of questions you would like answered. We kindly ask that you do not disclose to us during the session what these questions are, as your loved ones in the spirit realm will most likely answer them during the course of the session (and often with a great amount of detail!). Your loved ones in the spirit realm control what information is conveyed during the reading, and they will normally respond in the same manner they would have during their physical lifetimes. If they were talkative, they will be very chatty. If they were reserved, they may be less inclined to speak much. If they used profanity when speaking or were always making jokes, they will also tend to do so from the spirit realm.
Please do not give us information about your loved ones or pets in the spirit realm but instead allow them to validate their presence through the details they provide during the reading. We may ask you to validate information given during the reading with a simple “Yes” or “No”, but giving other information to us during the reading can compromise the quality of the reading.
Because often spirits will give much detail during a reading, we strongly encourage you to record the session or to take notes during. Often, spirits will give information that may not be readily recognizable at the time but may be validated at a later date.
Although it does not happen often, sometimes your loved ones in spirit may not make contact during a reading. This is the spirit's choice, and a medium cannot force a spirit to communicate during a reading. The decision to communicate or not to communicate belongs solely to the individual spirit. It can often be helpful to spend a bit of personal time alone prior to the reading, contemplating the person or pet you have lost and inviting them to make contact.
Spirit mediums vary in their level of accuracy in perceiving messages from spirits. Even the very best mediums sometimes misinterpret information from the spirit realm (we are human, after all!). If you do not feel that your loved ones are making a connection through one medium, try another medium. Mediums often do not work in the same manner and have different styles, in which they perform their work. If one medium is not able to make a connection for some reason, another medium may be more able to do so.
Mediumship is an ability that all people have to varying degrees; we just have to know how to tap into it. If you are interested in exploring your own mediumship abilities, contact us to talk about it. We'd love to hear from you!
